The World is Your Oyster Series Gallery opening at Clementine, in New Iberia, LA on May 2nd, 2015.

Cézanne was born in the Florida Keys, where the freedom and color of island life were imprinted on her. She moved to southern Louisiana at a young age, where she was enamored with the relaxed but vibrant talent that surrounded her. Inspired by the creative spirits in her family, Cézanne explored many different art forms throughout her life before formally began her study with oils in the late 2000s. She takes every opportunity to study while traveling, including an exploration of oils in Florence, and an examination of the Masters in Paris, Florence, Barcelona, and New York. Never one to be limited by geography, Cézanne also completed a captivating study of the Omo valley tribes in Africa, inspired by a photography series.

At the heart of Cézanne’s work is the belief that the artist should embody her essence- the very marrow of her being- using motifs that connect with her spirit. For Cézanne, this manifests as paintings that are an expression of culture- a study in the minutia and everyday life. She brings to the forefront the beauty of simple details and celebrates unique aspects of the world around her.

Cézanne now lives in Maurice, Louisiana with her husband, Steve, and son, Dylan. There, they founded Dockside Studio on the banks of the Vermillion River as a place to inspire artists and musicians from down the road and around the world. Surrounded by global and local talent, Cézanne is constantly finding new sources of inspiration for her work, especially in the “joie de vivre” of Cajun culture. Her most recent series is called “The World is Your Oyster”, inspired by the delicious and delicate South Louisiana oyster.
